Universal is the seating collection by Jean Marie Massaud for MDF Italia, distinguished by its elegant lines and exceptional ergonomics. Available as a chair or armchair, with either a wooden or fully upholstered backrest, the three-dimensional back is the focal point of the seating. The concept was developed from a study on the curving of the wood which led to the definition of an innovative, now patented technology in which industrial design and craftsmanship merge.
The design takes its name from the disc of the seat, the beating heart of the structure, designed to accommodate different types of bases and backrests, offering endless possibilities for configuration and customisation, further enhanced by a wide range of textile options.
The different declinations of Universal highlight the extraordinary ability of this product to integrate seamlessly into both residential and contract settings, whether classic or contemporary, all while maintaining a strong and distinctive identity.
Wooden backrest
The 3D effect is obtained from two curved elements, joined and assembled, available in oak or canaletto walnut finishes. Optional bumpers.
Fully upholstered backrest
Load-bearing shell in tubular metal padded with polyurethane foam.
Fully upholstered seat
Seat comprising foam injection moulded polypropylene shell with polyurethane foam rubber.
Cover
Fabric or leather, non-removable cover.
4-star base, 360° swivel
Die-cast aluminium with a matt micro-embossed finish or polished aluminium. Fixed version on request.

For daily cleaning, simply dust with a soft, dry cloth.
