The iconic Tense Material collection, designed by Piergiorgio and Michele Cazzaniga, highlights the materiality of its finishes, ensuring a unique tactile experience. The minimalist and rigorous design of the tables combines elegance and simplicity while revealing profound technological innovation. Thanks to its internal tension, the tabletop, just 35mm thick, can extend up to four metres in length, always maintaining perfect flatness.
The possibility to add up to two top-access units and an under-table cable tray makes the Tense Material tables ideal for a wide range of activities, including work, transforming into a desk or workstation when needed
The tables in the Tense Material collection are available in two monomaterial finishes: wood and reconstructed stone.
In the wood version, the three refined essences - thermo-treated oak, carbonised oak, and Italian walnut - add a distinctive touch to the collection. The prominent grain, textured surfaces, and warm tones of the wood make each table unique, bringing warmth to the interiors.
The reconstructed stone finish gives Tense Material an authentic character. The mineral blend of marble and quartz, applied entirely by hand, creates distinctive nuances across the surface, emphasising the prestige and uniqueness of each table. At the same time, the soft and smooth texture offers a tactile experience that is different every time.
Wood
Steel legs with a 35x35 mm section and internal structural tie-rod. The 35 mm thick tabletop is a load-bearing composite board built with an internal frame consisting of either aluminium profile and polystyrene filler.
3 mm thick natural oak solid wood, with thermal bio-treatment got through the combined use of heat and steam, without adding any chemical additives.
Heat treatment transforms the features of the wood itself. The beauty of wood remains unaltered, heat treatment varies its colour without resorting to any chemical dyes, without using any harmful substances, taking on quite a natural and unique shade.
Carbonised wood
Same characteristics as oak, but through a natural surface acid etching treatment, the distinctive “burning” appearance is achieved.
Italian Walnut
Steel legs with a 35x35 mm section and internal structural tie-rod. The 35 mm thick tabletop is a load-bearing composite board built with an internal frame consisting of either aluminium profile and polystyrene filler.
Fine wood, in Italian walnut, transparent acrylic finish. Edges and legs covered in 2 mm-thick cut walnut, processed with sawed effect: series of irregular cuts of different depths. Top covered in 2 mm-thick wood, fine smooth finish with variable slats which give the surface a distinctive array of shades, exalting the natural characteristics of the wood and raw material.
Reconstructed stone
Steel legs with a 35x35 mm section and internal structural tie-rod. The 35 mm thick tabletop is a load-bearing composite board built with an internal frame consisting of either aluminium profile and polystyrene filler.
Textured finish obtained from a blend of mineral powders that have been micronised and mixed with liquid acrylic and water-based products, giving it a material essence. The finishes are applied manually with a palette knife over the entire surface of the table, followed by a maturation process at room temperature. The material is subsequently protected with a water-based nanotechnological finish that makes the table sturdy and easy to clean. Top, edges and legs covered with the application of a thickness of about 1.5 mm of material.
Finish in Coccioperla white X202, cream X203, dove grey X204 and black X205 on request.
Top-access
The tables are also available in the version equipped with 1 or 2 top-access and under top cable try. The top-access is available in three versions: single lead with soft closing, double lead or optional, the single lead with soft closing, with inlay in the same finish of the table.
The metal cable trays are telescopic (H7/H10 cm), to host various wiring systems.
