At the iconic Milanese location 10corsocomo, translucent banners suspended in space, decorated with watercolor artworks, will transform the Project Room into an immersive environment, guiding visitors along a central path to discover new prototypes of social design—projects that celebrate ingenuity and resilience, inviting us to imagine a world where creativity and technology work in synergy, serving a more conscious approach to design.
Founded by Benjamin Hubert, LAYER celebrates its first ten years during Design Week with 101010, an immersive event that retraces the studio’s evolution and unveils a new collection developed in collaboration with long-standing partners.
“[…] it’s an honour to collaborate with some of our long-standing creative partners from the past decade to celebrate craft and explore how design can solve some of the most pressing issues facing humanity in the near future. […] This exhibition is an invitation to rethink the role of design in our shared future.” – Benjamin Hubert, founder of LAYER.
Environmental sustainability and the urgency of addressing global challenges are the common threads running through the six new products. Among them, Collect—developed by LAYER in collaboration with MDF Italia and Kvadrat—is a ‘nomadic tower’ designed to collect and store rainwater inside an expandable storage bladder. Throughout the process, each drop is filtered and purified through layers of natural ceramic and carbon, making the supply ready for use. Modular and easy to disassemble, Collect invites us to rethink our relationship with water and the environment, offering a sustainable and reliable solution.
The exhibition will also include prototypes, material samples, production drawings, and evocative concepts. Among these are the Press chairs, designed by Benjamin Hubert for MDF Italia and first presented at the last Salone del Mobile. The result of an innovative production process, the collection stands out for its essential design, versatility, and high level of customisation, all contributing to a seating experience that is both unique and distinctive.
101010 bridges past, present, and future, exploring the potential of design to shape the world of tomorrow.
